release history - identifying the various Pinkerton vinyl LP issues. 1996 USA - original. 5000 pressed. Cardboard matte on exterior, glossy on interior. inner sleeve has black and white map and the studio photos as used in CD booklet. ID: dgc-25007. 1996 UK - note: this edition is not confirmed to exist! - reportedly seen on sale in UK in '96 at non-import price. no photos known. 1996 Japan - note: this edition is not confirmed to exist! - no info nor photos known. 2001 Japan reissue - this edition includes the 'map/photos' inner sleeve. No other info is known, presumably it says made in Japan on the back cover somewhere. Label unknown. 2002 Europe Reissue note: this edition is not confirmed to exist! - no photos known. If exists, would be like the Blue album one, sealed with the "Universal Masters vinyl reissue" sticker, made in the EU. UNKNOWN EDITION: 2002 reissue - Unknown if a USA edition or an import. This is the one originally thought to be a bootleg, but turned out to be legitimately ordered from distributors. It appears to have been modeled after the original USA edition from 1996. Its label says DGC and Geffen Records [similar to the 2002 '6/4 songs' Blue album edition]. ID: dgc-25007 425 007-1. This edition DOES have a barcode, #20642 50071 - same as the '96 original. The main identifying factor is that the spine of the record cover does NOT have any writing on it [whereas the original says "weezer - pinkerton"]. Also the inner sleeve is a plain white sleeve, not the 'map/photos' sleeve of the original. |

weezer - el scorcho [promo copies] label: geffen id #: PRO-CD-1003 released: early September, 1996 format: cd songs: el scorcho. notes: an early and later version of the promotional single sent to radio stations. These are back covers. The black one [bottom] was made before the artwork was ready, as it had to be rushed to certain stations extra early. The later one very closely resembles the import commercial cd's of this single, but it just has 1 track. |

weezer - el scorcho clean versions [special promo] label: geffen id #: x released: mid September, 1996 format: cd songs: el scorcho ["bleep damn" version]; el scorcho ["dog damn" version]. notes: a rare promo, made in response to a handful of radio stations who were objecting to the mention of "god damn" at the start of el scorcho. Version 1 bleeps it out, Version 2 reverses it so it sounds like "dog damn". And these stations had no problems with the 'god damn' in Undone 2 years earlier...so...? |

weezer - el scorcho label: geffen id #: #gfstm22167 released: september 19, 1996 format: cd, cassette, 7" vinyl songs: el scorcho. you gave your love to me softly. devotion. notes: contains "version 2" of you gave your love to me softly. In the UK 2 versions are released: - a 7" and cd single [cardboard case] with "el scorcho" and "you gave.." - a 'maxi-single' [in thin jewel case] that adds devotion. UK cassette single also exists [2 tracks]. Other international countries get the maxi-single version only...however Australia's version comes in a cardboard sleeve, making it easy to mix up with the UK regular cd single. B-sides recorded during the main Pinkerton sessions. Spike's little photos on the back cover are priceless. |

White cardboard sleeve with white sticker affixed, relating band biography info in Swedish. Includes a transparent plastic lyric sheet. Very rare promo. Loose translation of Swedish Bio: "The Good Life" is the 2nd single from the album "Pinkerton". The single is commercially released at the end of january 1997. River Coumo (sic!) predilection of Japan and its female inhabitants characterizes both the albumcover and the lyrics. The band will come back to Sweden at the end of January 1997. All 4 bandmembers come from different parts of USA. Common denominator: Los Angeles and homelesness. Friends' friends brought River (sic!), Matt and Pat together to share apartment. Brian joined as an extra contribution when their 1st were to be recorded." |
