1/1/00 - about March 2000: continued RIVERS DEMOS
Rivers just kept going into 2000, cranking out another pile of demos, this time at his new house in L.A. Again, there were a good deal of more song attempts that didnt get far enough to warrant getting made into a demo, and for each of the ones that did make it to this level, there exists multiple versions of on tape, as they were refined.

Summer 2000: Tour Demos
recorded live with a mobile unit during soundchecks and sometimes the shows themselves. These demos were compiled from hundreds of hours of recordings. Most of the post-warped tour US shows in summer/fall 2000 were fully recorded on the mobile 8 track unit, including the soundchecks, which is when the new somgs were demo'd.

Summer/Fall Tour 2000 bootlegs
There are numerous bootlegs of these shows that have been traded extensively as tapes, Mini Disc, cd-r's and especially Mp3's. Most of the "new summer songs" that were played live seem to have been made widely available in mp3 format, with the exception of "On The Edge", which was apparently only performed in front of an audience at the Milwaukee show at Eagles in September. A portion of this performance was posted in my video clip from that show, which has since been converted into an incomplete mp3. But no full version has surfaced in trading circles. The following songs made it to the public as live mp3s.
1. My Brain
2. O-Girl
3. Dope Nose
4. Ev'ry Nite
5. Hash Pipe
6. Mad Kow
7. Modern Dukes
8. Preacher's Son
9. Slob
10. Superstar
11. Too Late to Try
12. Your Sister (AKA The Sister Song)
13. Peace and Quiet
additionally, three of those songs also made it out as "soundboard" recordings. I strongly doubt that they originate from the live 8-track private band recordings we were making, as in their raw form they require a "mixing down" session to become listenable. As all of the tapes have been kept private I can't see that having happened. However, often there is a tape deck or whatever hooked into a venues "in-house" soundboard system, which were often being utilized last year. (These days weezer carries all of its own sound gear stuff, at least in the USA). So a venue employee could have taped a show or soundcheck and then let some songs go. The three "soundboard quality" mp3s out there are:
Your Sister
Superstar
Slob
Special note: on 11/17/01, the following 'summer songs 2000' were released via the (now defunct) fan site, www.summersongs2k.com. They were given to the owner of that site to release, instead of putting them directly on weezer.com. These are what is widely known as the 'edited versions', in that they were in some cases trimmed down and/or rearranged via digital editing, under the decisions of Rivers, who after over a year had finally determeined what was 'wrong' with the original 2000 structures, and wanted to release the definitive versions. The source material is the demo and live recordings dome in the summer of 2000, though what exact recordings they are culled from is unclear. As some of these new definitive versions were in fact shorter than versions that had been circulating amongst fans for over a year, there was a bit of an outcry, and amongst some a "rebellion", treating the new, official and 'correct' versions as aberrations.
1. dope nose (177- summer 2000)
2. mad kow (192 - summer 2000)
3.modern dukes (190 - summer 2000)
4.o-girl (170 - summer 2000)
5.on the edge (196 - summer 2000)
6.preacher's son (186 - summer 2000)
7.too late to try (195 - summer 2000)
8.superstar (197 - summer 2000)
9.the sister song (198 - summer 2000)
10.slob (188 - summer 2000)
11.summer/fall 2000 show "intro music". attendees of certain shows in 2000 may
recognize this 'Brady Bunch' sound collage that Pat and Karl assembled.
12. Additionally a 'bonus track' was released with these mp3s, culled from a new videotape recording done backstage on tour in the fall of '01. "Been In The Storm", as originally seen in the Fall 2000 home videoclips released on the A-V page. This was considered a sort of "SS2k Album b-side", as it was originally seen back when the 'SS2K' songs were first circulating.
Note that as of spring 2000 onward to the present, the bands home movies (shot by karl) are nearly ubiquitous, with nearly every show at least partially documented from either the stage or front of house, plus numerous soundchecks, rehearsals and recording sessions. The volume of footage is dauntingly large, yet there are curious and unfortunate gaps from time to time, when either karl, a video camera, or both were not available. The 2000 footage is spotty in places mostly because karl was still working on the stage as a backline and guitar tech, so sometimes an additional assistant was in place to film, and other times karl had to 'double duty' on camera and tech work, resulting in often sketchy tapes.

(keen-eyed observers may note the absence of "Move It On" from this list, the track originally recorded for the KROQ Kevin And Bean Chrisrtmas CD. This track was never fully completed, as the band scrambled on to complete the Christmas Song in time. These listing list only the songs that were finished and mixed down, so "Move It On", along with numerous other songs, remain on master tapes unfinished and unlisted until/unless they reach a "final" state.)
