assuming this someone has never been to your town, of course. and i don't mean where would you take them in the closest big city...i mean the town you currently live in.

ok, so i live in joliet, and there's not a ton here, but...

we would most definitely have to take a drive down by the joliet prison that was featured in blues brothers (joliet jake?) because it's just creepy and awesome. and depending on the time of year of said visit, we would have to attend the stateville haunted house right next to the prison, because it's also creepy and awesome. we'd probably go hang around the gigantic barnes and noble, drink some starbucks, and make fun of all the creepers that work there. i would also take them to dinner at baby back blues bbq, the BEST pulled pork EVER. and we would finish with "dessert" at home cut donuts in downtown joliet, a 24 hour donut place that makes their donuts from scratch and that has the coolest characters working there.

your turn.

Re: No.

Tucson AZ. Wouldn't show them any of the touristy places because most of them are desert-themed museums and such, and it's much better to just go out into the desert. Maybe, to the Pima and air space museum... but I've been there so many times i've seen everything.

Definitely to the boneyard - an enormous aircraft graveyard, it's really cool even if airplanes isn't your thing (it's not my thing, and i love it).

Re: asdfasdfasdf

i live in a small village outside a city, so there's not that much to do in the village itself. we have several castles within about 30 minutes drive from here, so definitely we'd go see some castles (cardiff, castell coch, caerphilly, raglan). i also live pretty near the coast so we'd defintiely go to the beach, either very local (good beaches about 15 minutes away) or slightly further afield (outstanding beaches/coastline at mumbles, three cliffs bay, rhosilli, all within about an hour from here). if we head north 20 miles or so, we have the brecon beacons national park, which is just incredible. whilst there, we'd have to go to dan-yr-ogof caves, underneath the mountains, because it's just breath-taking, particularly the cathedral cave.

if we went into the city, we'd definitely go to cardiff bay (especially if they were doctor who fans).

Parks, castles, caves, mountains, beaches... I'm sold.

Re: My home town

I live in a small, overly conservative, dominantly Christian, disgustingly wealthy town with a population that is 89% white people.
So I would take a visitor to one of our 50 banks... because that's all we have.
Oh, we have a local pizza parlor, I suppose we could get dinner there or something.

89% white? Your town is the ghetto compared to where I live. Try 94.86% white with 23% of the population 65 years or older.
I guess I could take you guys fishing. That's always fun.

It is a bit crowded, but fun. And yes, there is a pond in My Basement.
