Weezer Newbie

Ok....well not quite - I've enjoyed their music for years but I am a virgin when it comes to owning any of their CD's - so....as a first disc purcase, which do you recommend?

Re: Blue

I can remember having the exact same thought pattern about 6 months ago. I went with blue as my first Weezer CD and fell in love with it and then brought all of the other albums. Also it was their first album so its kind of fitting to listen to it first. Some people would also suggest Pinkerton as another of Weezers best albums, but if you want the Weezer sound you are expecting, I would still go with the BLue album first if I were you. Pinkerton takes a few more listens.

Re: asd

For starters, it's almost a total consensus that the first two weezer albums are leaps and bounds above the new-era albums. And when it comes down to the "best" weezer album, it's split almost evenly between Blue and Pinkerton.

Blue has the perfect power-pop sound and charm with great catchy songs and is the album that "gets" most of the fans first.

Pinkerton, which came 2 years after Blue, is a very raw emotional album with a lot of self-deprecation and depression, and usually those who pick Pink as their favorite (including myself) do so because of its genuine sadness and the powerful feelings it evokes.

Re: welcome

I was in position too about 6 months ago. my mate put some tunes on my phone and one of them was Across the Sea by weezer, which I kind of ignored at first, but then one snowy evening I fell in love with it and listened to it over and over again...about 2 days later I bought all of weezers album in the space of about 24 hours over the net =]

I'd recommend blue or pinkerton first like the other guys, and possibly red too

Re: yea....

I would say Red really. Make Believe as well. Listen to the newer stuff then go old. It will blow you away. That way it will only get better (not saying new stuff is the worst, nowhere close to the worst.)

Honestly, I'm thinking of buying them all at once, too, cuz there are good songs on all of them!!! But that might be Weezer overload...I think I'll start with Blue and Pink, and ease my way into it...and probably by the end of the week I'll be buying the rest...hehe!

Thank you everyone for your input...
