I don't have the means to listen digitally. I love weezer too much to wait until the deluxe edition arrives in stores before I buy the new album. That means I have no choice but to wait longer or spend money that I don't have on a second cd. If only both versions were available in stores the same day. It's hard not be a little saddened by that news, though I am grateful to have a new album at all.
this album clearly explains, threefootseven, that "yes, we could write songs that sounded like pinkerton because we have the chops and the range, but there's just no chance in hell this band will ever sound exactly like that ever again. cheers."
seriously, mate. if you want to hear pinkerton and blue, just pop em in, they've already been pressed. you are wasting a lot of energy if you just want to hear the same album over and over again. most cd players these days are equipped with a "repeat all" option.
another great idea you had was deciding for a band what song structure they would have, and what instrumentation the band should use to suit your individual tastes and idea of what rivers cuomo's artwork sounds like. i think a pretty safe bet would be that rivers knows more on this subject than you, and on any given occasion could write a far better album than you are capable of in your lifetime. I don't yell at a cook in a restaurant for not putting lobster in my chicken noodle soup after i have finished it. the album is done. how constructive do you think it is to ask a band to add things to their finished album?
do me a favor. i want you to take that drum solo at the end of "everybody get dangerous" and i want you to plug in a guitar and just record yourself shredding over the end of that track. let's hear what sort of guitar solos you would like on your new weezer album.
if you are not capable of producing these guitar solos, SHUT UP. let the big boys play their instruments.
damn. sorry about all that. i just kinda went off huh?
hey threefootseven, lets hug. i like you.
Joe
i am totally buying the regular and deluxe, only to help weezer's album sales figures for the first week. gotta get the boys to the top of the charts! but i do think the deluxe only releasing digitally that day is kinda lame. what can you do? we made them push it up 3 weeks already. we should be grateful for automatic lol...
Joe
I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions. Normally I would probably buy both, but I just doesn't seem practical at this time.
Unfortunately,I cannot shake the feeling that it just seems like a ploy on the part of the record company to a) sell more albums and/or b) to increase business for iTunes.
As wonderful as the news is that the album is being pushed up, I wonder also if that has less to do with "popular demand" than risking internet leakage and the potential loss in album sales that may entail.
I guess all I can do is just wait until the deluxe edition of the new album comes out since that is all that I can afford at this time, though this will be the first weezer album since Pinkerton that I didn't buy on opening day.
I'll see what I can do (and my guess is that I'll probably find the means to buy both!), but in the meantime, as I said before, I am grateful that I get to hear a new album at all. It would take more than a staggered deluxe edition release for me to lose respect for a band that has given more to me than I could ever give in return. Thanks again for responding.
Weezer some of the best guitar solos (Fall Together, Why Bother, Sweater Song, Buddy Holly, Only in Dreams, etc, etc...). But I'm sure they know what they're doing. I think the Red Album is trying to be different and that's just one of the aspects. And actually, there are little nice guitar pieces in the background of the Red Album.
From one Evan to another, I would say that if you really want the deluxe edition AND to buy the Weezer album on opening day, buy both. I mean we're only talking about $15 to $20 extra bucks. It's not like buying two cars or something.
I don't know that many other Evans. It's nice to meet you. You're right -- It's not that big of a deal, especially when you're talking about a weezer album. However, I do feel that weezer can get to the top of the chart on their own merit, and the record company need not resort to producing two different albums, if indeed that is the reason why it was decided to do so. On the other hand, I am glad that a longer album option is available. Incidentally, while I do consider myself a big enough fan to buy both versions of the album (perhaps only slightly begrudgingly), I did not go out and buy a second copy of Make Believe because of the changes made to Perfect Situation or the correction made to We Are All On Drugs in later pressings -- okay, so I did think about it...! :)
I couldn't believe there was another Evan on here either. But you know, I tihnk the deluxe album comes out on the same day, right? I preordered the deluxe edition from Amazon (along with the new Coldplay CD). I'm also GUESSING that the deluxe edition has a bonus disc...but Amazon listed it as 1 disc. So maybe it is just like having a longer album. Personally, I'm not all about buying multiple copies. But I do want more songs. I'm mad that I can't get those two extra songs from iTunes anywhere else.
i saw an article in i believe the "blender" magazine.....(or something like that)
pat said that fans of pinkerton and blue would not be disapointed.
if pork and beans turns out to be the worst song on the record,(which we all know it's a great song) i think pat will be able to stand stall to his statement.
good luck with the new album guys. see you in norfolk, va
Check this against this very website, but I believe that, not only does a pre-order of the iTunes single entitle the customer to two b-sides, but an order of the album on vinyl from one of two particular websites entitles the customer to another b-side entirely. And, as it stands now, it appears that the deluxe edition will only appear June 3rd in digital format -- though I certainly hope that that changes soon. That would make me extremely happy. I'm hoping also that the b-sides in question will one day be available elsewhere, so I haven't given up on those just yet.
Incidentally, last year sometime I met a girl named Evan, and believe it or not, she acted like I was the one with the weird name. So there's another weezer Evan -- That's awesome.
WOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOoooooo!!!! That's weezerific!!! I'm so super duper excited!!!! DO THE PEEPS WHO ORDERED THE iTunes thing DELUXE or standard Still GET HE FIRST CHOICE TO TIX???? I better start SAVing---STUPID TICKETMASTER FEES!!!! uh.. I had another question but I can't remember what it was... I'll come back :)
Why didn't they call all of us wonderful weezer fans to appear in their video??? I reeeeeealllly hope I can be apart of one of their vids this album!!! I will take a day off!!! SHOOOT! MY JOB GIVES ME THE WHOLE SUMMER OFF so ANY time you need me boys---- I'LL BE THERE!! even if you need me to run your errands, tie your shoes, etc- I'm very humble so I'll do it!
=0) hey LOOK! It's ME and Michael Cera!
So, since 1994, I thought I was the only Weezer Evan...I guess not. But hey, I ordered the deluxe edition from Amazon (not digital). Check out this link: http://www.amazon.com/Weezer-Red-Album-Deluxe/dp/B00188HR3G/ref=pd_bbs_sr_10?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1210728720&sr=8-10
But the whole b-side thing has always been annoying. It's just too crazy to go around buying five and six items to have a few more songs. I tried to do that back in the day and found it to be too difficult. I still want those songs though!!
What the hell!? Do Weezer not love the UK? Not only are our release dates later, but the deluxe physical release is gonna be eeeeeven later!? IM GONNA GO NUTS! I REFUSE TO BUY DIGITAL!!! I WANT TO HOLD IT IN MY HANDSSSS
