yo!

Man! what the fuck's going on with all this weezer shit? its like theyre being influenced by all this late 2000 shit like my chemical romance. fuck, and i was all excited too.son of a bitch, no more solos. it seems like rivers pictures himself riding a convertible down beverly hills when he write this shit. Everybody get dangerous?!GEEZ CHRAS! ah well, this is probably my last post here anyway, so all you who are going to be all defending weezer and shit, and with good reason, considering they came out with like 2 of the best albums ever in their early years, can save it, as i'm leaving all this new shit behind, and will just enjoy the genius that was pinkerton blue album and that's it. FUCK! so dissapointing.SUCKS BALLS!

Wow

wow wow wow wow. Im speachless. IM actually in love with the first 8 songs(minus pork and beans). Good change of pace for the band, regardless if its anything that theyve done or not, it sounds good. Classic? Prob not, never really learned to love an album that i liked on the first listen.

The Definition of a Weezer Fan:

If you are a fan of a band, you are a fan of their entire body of work. When you like a song on the radio, you typically say, "i like (song name)" as opposed to "i like (band name)" because the verdict is still out on whether or not you are willing to support that band's entire catalog. I mean, 30 Seconds to Mars? you see where i am going with this? I AM A WEEZER FAN. THIS MEANS I AM A FAN OF EVERY ALBUM THEY PUT OUT. I AM ALSO A PROPONENT OF RIVER'S HEALTH. THIS MEANS I LIKE WHEN HE IS HAPPY, AND DO NOT WISH THAT HE WERE AS MISERABLE AS HE WAS WHEN HE WROTE PINKERTON, BECAUSE THAT'S WHERE THOSE SONGS CAME FROM. I LOOK FORWARD TO EVERY CURVE BALL THIS BAND THROWS US. ALBUMS TO RIVERS ARE LIKE ARTISTIC EXERCISES. EACH ALBUM HAS A THEME. MAKE BELIEVE WAS CLEARLY AN EXERCISE IN REFLECTING UPON HIS MEDITATION STUDIES AND EASTERN PHILOSOPHY. With that said, i have listened to the new album and it is my favorite so far. better than blue, better than pinkerton (although maladroit was also better than pinkerton). They have expanded the sound far beyond what i could have ever imagined. weezer on add. i love every track i have heard so far and can't wait to hear the rest. as for the people who don't get weezer, that's too bad, because you are missing out on a really good time. if you are a pinkerton fan only, stop claiming that you are a weezer fan. blue album and pinkerton are not weezer's entire catalog, and no band should be forced by it's fans to sound the same way it did 1o years ago. rivers has clearly made a statement with this album that, yeah, he sure as hell can write more expansive songs like he did on blue and pinkerton, but there is no chance in hell of the band sounding like that ever again. and thank god. who wants to just rehash the past over and over and over? oh, that's right, all of you. no wonder rivers called us little bitches. Turns out the drum beat was The Greatest Man...I guess you were wrong about that. Also, Troublemaker is good, Greatest Man is good (and quite creative), Pork & Beans is good, Dreamin' is good, Thought I Knew is good (and quite different), Heart Songs is good (great singing on that one), etc...

To Bigheadjoe:

Bravo! I agree with your comment completely -- though I have always been at a loss as to how to articulate accurately my thoughts. (I appreciate especially your statement about how Make Believe may be seen as an ultimate expression in many regards of Eastern philosophy/meditation.) To me, as a weezer fan, I want everyone in the band to be happy and healthy so that they can produce the music that suits their mindsets and abilities at that particular time in their lives. I am immensely grateful for weezer's music because it has greatly enhanced the last fourteen years of my life, and for that reason I look forward to every new song -- different or similar -- simply because I support the band. I really want to believe that most fans share the same opinion, but perhaps they are less vocal about it. That is why I try so hard to stay positive and supportive, but I'm afraid that one optimistic/hopeful voice amidst a sea of negativity is impossible to hear. But I am sure that weezer appreciates all of their fans' support. After three years we get another weezer album! That's reason enough to celebrate, in my eyes. I apologize for writing such a long comment. But I have a tendency to wax rhapsodic when I'm talking about weezer!

critics.

i love how anyone with a computer can be a critic of anything.
liquid98

uhh

Lets not get on the topic of fandom. Just because your a fan of a band does NOT mean you have to like an artists whole catalog of music. As MURS once kindly said that music is like life and person, it needs to grow and adapt and advance. When all this stops it dies. I mean every musical group who sticks it out naturally has a falling out where the quality of music drops. I have recently come to terms that this just always happens in the music industry so im not going to hold it against an artist for falling apart because it happens. That being said, there has been two times where weezer stoped advancing and i thought it was the end, but they always come back out of left field and throw something at me that i truely enjoy, and its happend again. Other then pork and beans, the first songs to come off this cd are amazing. Ive never liked something this much off the first listen, especially something by weezer. They are my favorite musicla artist but normally, i have to wrap around the album once or twice before im totally into it. That wasnt the case this time around and i just cant wait for the deluxe addition to come out so i can run in and cop that shit from one of the 24 hour stores around here.
bigheadjoe

just to clarify:

i am an old school weezer fan myself, i used to own the cassette single of undone... ROCK!!! big=w=joe

Big Head Joe 2 thumbs up!

As much as I would enjoy hearing Weezer make Pinkerton over and over again I am so glad they are moving forward. Please keep changing cause we all should be changing also. Evolution baby, (write a song about that). I heard Weezer when I was in 7th grade and now I am graduating from college and I have changed and change is good so keep running with it Weezer. True fans will support you.

Green Album?

Why does no one give Green Album any credit or shout outs. I freakin love that album. Its such an easy listen, great to play by the pool. It may not be ultra deep and philosophical but its fun and good to blast with the windows down.
ThreeFootSeven

...

which part of TGMTEL is that drum beat from? sounded like "Cold Dark World" to me. and the argument about being a fan = liking a band's entire catalog is stupid. i think it's a joke, though.
bigheadjoe

a joke

coming from the guy who asked the webmaster where the solos are on the new album, i think your brain is part of some grand scientific joke. if you want guitar solos, write a Fxxxing album.
blakesp26

Opinions

People are entitled to their opinions....if they don't like the new album, well i guess they don't like the new album. you can't blame them for that and they can say so if they want. it doesn't bother me anymore that people don't like each new album because i like them and thats all i care about. also, i think its clear that rivers doesn't care if this album is accepted or not...hes just wants to do what he wants to do "doing things my own way and never giving up, im a troublemaker, not a double taker, i dont have the patience to keep it on the up." effing awesome. personally...i think this album is ridiculously amazing and im glad that when i decided to get my =w= tattoo a few years ago, for some reason i went with red...

The Greatest Message Board

All of you posters on the message board are awesome! Just wanted to say that.

the drums are def from greatest man, from the first verse with the rap and then the crunchy guitar part. right up until the acoustic part with rivers singing in falsetto. to clarify for whoever asked that there
